COMPLAINTS, FACTORY INSPECTIONS, TECHNICAL OPINIONS ON INDUSTRY LICENSING AND IMPORTS/EXPORTS OF CFCs, IN 2005
Personal complaints made to Environment Council increased rapidly in recent years, while the participation in factory inspections and provision of opinions were slightly dropped. In 2005, obvious increase in different kinds of complaints was recorded, amongst which complaints of "public hygiene" increased by 325%; "others" by 50%; air pollution by 29.5% and noise pollution by 25%. Please refer to the following table for details.
1. Handling of Complaints
Environment Council received totally 205 complaints in 2005 (in comparing with the same period with 2004, there was an increase of 54 cases which constitute an increase of 35%). There were 95 noise complaints; 84 air pollution complaints (including greasy fume emission); 17 cases of environmental hygiene; and 9 cases of other complaints. Please refer table 7 to 10 for details.




2. Participation in inspections, noise measurement and providing opinion on licensing requested by Macao Government Tourist Office (DST)
Environment Council has participated in 9 inspections before license issuing or renewing activities upon request by DST. The Environment Council also provided technical advices on noise pollution prevention in 7 licensing for Karaoke and bars. (See table 11)
3. Participation in inspections to industrial establishments, requested by Macao Economic Services (DSE)
Environment Council participated in 18 factory inspection upon request by DSE in 2005, the Environment Council suggested relevant opinions in the activities. (See table 11)
4. Participation in inspections requested by Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT)
Environment Council was requested to participate in 3 inspection activities upon request by DSSOPT in 2005. (See table 11)

5. Opinion for imports/exports of substances that deplete the ozone layer (CFCs)
Along 2005, 15 requests on opinions for the imports/exports of CFCs were analyzed. (See table 12)
