The list of awardees of Macao Green Hotel Award has been completed. The award is an initiative organized by the Environment Council in collaboration with Macao Government Tourist Office, supported by Macau Hoteliers & Innkeepers Association, Macau Hotel Association, Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center, Macau Hotel Employees Association, and consultancy services from Hong Kong Productivity Council.

    Holiday Inn Macau, Hotel Beverly Plaza, Mandarin Oriental Macau, Riviera Hotel Macau, and The Westin Resort Macau - category I establishments - as well as Emperor Hotel and Metropole Hotel - category II establishments - were awarded in recognition of the fulfillment of Macao Green Hotel Award requirements and commitment to environmental management.

    In light of the vigorous development of the tourism industry in Macao, the demand for hotel services has been increasing coherently. Local hotel industry has commenced taking environmental measures, which turned out positively. The aim of the award translates into the recognition of establishments that have proactively committed to the principle of environmental management. Their experiences sparkled with a solid and positive message to society as well as the whole hotel industry. The adoption of green hotel model not only boosts competition but also improves environmental performance of hotel establishments and subsequently yields positively in Macao's environment.

    The ceremony was held on 6^th March 2008, at 15:00, at lotus room on the 5^th floor of World Trade Centre. All representatives of hotel establishments, service providers, partners and other interested parties were invited to participate in this event.
