The Environment Council organized the exhibition "Conserve Resources, Be Friend of our Earth" in order to commemorate Earth Day, which is celebrated on 22^nd of April. The exhibition took place at Clube Militar and the opening ceremony was held on 20^th April 2008. Posters of exhibition showed the most important natural resources of the planet as well as appeal residents for conservation and taking care of planet Earth. It was also expected to increase population's awareness, through this exhibition, on the need to protect environment, adopt simple life habits, and become environmental friendly.

    Earth Day has become a worldwide celebration through an enriched and gradual environmental awareness of people of various nationalities together the organization of several environmental activities. The meaning and goal of this day lay on the need to draw population attention to a series of pollution problems so as to implement the concept of environmental protection.

    The exhibition covered some of the main natural resources - water, minerals, animals, plants, etc. Overdevelopment and inappropriate use of resources has driven to an increase of pollution and exhaust of resources, which in turn is the source of problems such as the greenhouse effect, scarcity of water resources, water pollution, desertification, waste pollution, fauna and flora. These panels also presented some examples of inappropriate use of natural resources and call residents to protect nature, conserve resources and become environmental friendly every day of their lives.

    The exhibition opening ceremony held on 20^th April was presided over the president of the General Council of the Environment Council, Mr. Lionel Vai Tac Leong; acting president of the executive committee of the Environment Council, Ms. Vong Man Hung; and acting member of the Executive Committee of the Environment Council, Mr. Wong Sai Heng. At the same time the awards were attributed to the winners of the lucky draw organized by the Environment Council for celebrating World Water Day, : Labyrinth of Water Conservation". Twenty-three participants were awarded.
