Press Release The campaign "Preserve natural resources. Bring your own bag while shopping" has been held from 5th June until 31st August 2008. For celebrating this activity, the Environment Council distributed ecological bags to the population over June and July at several public places and stores collaborating with this campaign aiming at encouraging citizens for contributing on the reduction of waste and environmental pollution.
The Environment Council counted, for this campaign, on the collaboration of the following entities: Macao General Union of Neighbours Associations, Macao Federation of Trade Unions, Macao Women's Association, Macao Chong Wa Students' Association, Macao Scouts' Association, and Macao Flying Eagle Club, and the support of 58 stores.
During the campaign "Preserve natural resources. Bring your own bag while shopping", citizens who bring their own bag when shopping on designated places will be given a lucky draw ticket for being stamped. When the ticket is fully stamped (6 stamps), they will be entitled to participate in the lucky draw. The Environment Council intends with this to encourage citizens to adopt pro-environment habits such as the use of ecological bags when shopping.
Bags distribution was held by the Environment council at places as follows: on 24th June from 16:00 to 17:00 - Supermarket San Mio Limitada, Rua do Mercado 542-554; 26th June from 17:00 to 18:00 - Watson's The Chemist (Macao) Limited, Largo do Senado No.11; Shun Tak House, Ground Floor & 1st to 3rd Floor; 1st July from 16:00 to 17:00 - Supermarket Royal Cia. Lda, Rua Francisco Xavier Pereira 83-85C, Vang Lei Garden G/F Macao; 15th July from 16:00 to 17:00 - Bookstore Seng Kwong Lda, Rua Pedro Nolasco Silva 43. Interested citizens may collect bags at referred places.
