The Promotional Team for Water Conservation held the 2^nd session of the awareness raising campaign - Carnival "Water for Life" aiming to reinforce awareness on water conservation and guarantee sustainable development at Areia Preta Garden, on 11^th November at 15:30.

     The Promotional Team for Water Conservation formed by members of the Environment Council, Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Government Information Bureau, and Macao Water Supply Company held the awareness campaign - Carnival "Water for life" at Praça da Amizade, on 14^th October, which aimed to disclose to local residents on the efficient use of water, in turn, these activities turned out to be a very positive initialization.

     The limited water resources worldwide are a serious problem, which has been constraining social progress and is an obstacle to economic development. Macao is a fast-growing city regarding socio-economic aspects, its fast-growing population and the steady increase in the number of tourists have been leading to an increase in the demand for water in Macao. Hence, water conservation and protection of water resources deserve full attention and focus.

     The 2^nd session of the awareness raising campaign - Carnival "Water for Life" comprises a series of rich activities apart from the games, such as: play, dance, singing, poetry, quiz and chorus performances, all these activities aimed to disclose to local residents information on the importance of conservation of water.

     This event was presided over by the President of the General Council of the Environment Council, Mr. Vai Tac Leong; Acting President of the Executive Commission of the Environment Council, Ms. Vong Man Hung; President of the Administration Council of Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Mr. Lau Si Io; and the CEO of Macao Water Supply Company, Franklin Willemyns.

     The organizing entity, the Promotional Team for Water Conservation, counted on the collaboration of the General Union for Macao Residents' Associations, General Association for Macao Labourers, Macao Women's Association, Macao Chong Wa Students' Association, Macao Scouts' Association, Nossa Senhora de Fátima School, and Tong Sin Tong School.

     The Water Conservation campaign is a long-term task; the Promotional Team for Water Conservation will disclose information to schools, restaurants, and hotels through several media, such as: television; radio; newspapers, posters, brochures, internet and hotlines.
