Press Release

In order to reinforce the awareness and education campaign on water conservation, the Promotional Team for Water Conservation, constituted by representatives of the Environment Council, Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Government Information Bureau, and The Macao Water Supply Company, Ltd, has been developing a series of activities, under the motto "Water for Life", since October 2006.

The exhibition "Water for Life" was held in various zones of Macao, in March and April, such as: Jardim da Flora (from 10:00 on 2nd March to 17:00 on 7th March), Largo do Senado (from 10:00 on 8th March to 17:00 on 25th March), Rotunda Carlos da Maia (also known as Largo dos Três Candeeiros) (on 17th March, from 10:00 to 17:00), and Largo do Pagode da Barra (on 1st April, from 10:00 to 17:00). Likewise, this exhibition will be shown at several schools of Macao.

The rich and comprising content of the exhibition consists of 30 posters on the importance, current situation and worldwide water crisis, its causes and consequences; the evolution of water consumption in Macao, problems and jobs on the protection of Macao water resources; and the technical means to decrease water consumption. The team aimed, with this exhibition, to disclose the relationship between the human being and water resources, the importance of protecting water resources, and the technical means to decrease water consumption, for increasing public's awareness on this issue.

Further information on the exhibition "Water for Life" and the awareness campaign is available on Macao Government Internet site or Environment Council website: www.ambiente.gov.mo/water.
