Open Day of IACM Laboratory and Macao Water Supply Co. Ltd

     The Promotional Team for Water Conservation and Salinity Response Task Force have organized a series of promotional and awareness rising activities and visits aiming at drawing public's attention to water resources such as the need of water conservation, actions towards water salinity, following the beginning of the program on the topic "drinking water while thinking of its source" and other activities such as the party on "Water for Life" held on 24^th November.

     The Laboratory of Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and Macao Water Supply Co. Ltd made an open day in the afternoon of 2^nd December for disclosing further information on water supply to Macao to a set of senior ambassadors of city cleaning and further youngsters related to environmental protection as well as members of Hoi Pan Building Management Association in order to inform on country's sources, conditions and networks of water supply to Macau, the process of treating drinking water and supply; functioning of Macao Water Supply Co. Ltd, and screening to water quality and salinity. Visitors had the opportunity to acknowledge history of drinking water supply to Macao, improvement of network quality, process of treating drinking water and screening to water quality so as to get aware of the value of water resources.

     The group also visited IACM Laboratory, which is the responsible entity for monitoring and screening the quality of drinking water, through samples collected from 65 control stations, in order to ensure the quality of consumption water in conformity with defined criteria.

     IACM Laboratory is responsible for disclosing daily information to the public, during salinity period, on indices of drinking water salinity based on analysis results.

     Organizing entities hope participants have acknowledged the importance and value of water resources and may actively participate in the water conservation campaign as well as contribute for the construction of a water conservation society in the activity.
